There are 3 things that one should consider in “wine storage”, namely temperature, humidity and light. All of which will affect the taste of the wine.
“Temperature”, affects the wine because of its fluctuating characteristic. If the temperature is too warm, then it would accelerate the oxidation process because of the presence of too much heat. If too cold, the cork will shrink, letting the air in. It has to monitored time and time again.
“Humidity”, on the other hand if too can high, can damage “wine bottle” and the also the labels, because mold would start to appear. If too low, humidity will allow more air to get inside the bottle, because it would actually cause the cork to crack due it’s dryness. It has to be controlled also monitored.
“Light”, especially from the “ultraviolet rays” can hinder the wine from aging to perfection. Too much exposure to light can destroy a wine’s, aging process by developing an unpleasant aroma because of the “light struck”, effect. Although there are special “filter bottles”, to prevent this from happening, extra precautions must still be taken to be sure.
The best way to allow the wine to mature perfectly is to position the bottle horizontally, never forget this fact.

I keep my wines in a refrigerator and in a wooden wine rack; the latter is for my wines that are more frequently consumed, and I put it in the corner of my living room (which doesn’t receive much light). The other I use a Marvel Wine Cooler to store my more specialty wines. Both of these storage units were purchased online at Vintage Cellars!
